Done Drafts & Daggerheart
What I've been up to.
I have been so deep in the writing trenches lately that I, well, kinda forgot about my substack. Much like Danaerys kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet. It happens. (I know, it still hurts me, too)
Either way, hello again.
Last week, I finished writing Ley Lines & other Faults! 🥳
This is only its first form, of course. It is currently marinating (and in the hands of my amazing alpha reader), then I will do a round of edits (where we will see if perhaps certain characters need to tragically die after all), and then it will be off for beta-ing and more edits. I have also re-commissioned the same artist who did the cover for Somewhere down the Ley Line to do the cover for its sequel! Here’s a little sneak peek at the latest WIP she sent me. Just look at those colours! 😍
I am pretty happy with the overall structure of the book so far. I feel it is a satisfying ending to Felix & Isolde’s story, and manages not to be overly cliché while still hitting some of those delicious romantasy tropes we all know and love. 🥰 Anyway, you’ll just have to wait and see for yourself, won’t you?

On the tabletop front, I’ve been really enjoying Daggerheart lately! I’m not DMing (for once) but playing a katari rogue, so lots of climbing trees, chasing birds, hissing at people and other feline shenanigans. I like the 2d12 dice rolling system and the hope/fear mechanics in Daggerheart a lot, and the looser ruleset lends itself (imo) really well to roleplay and teamwork.
On the DM side, I’ve been working on a campaign idea I’m very excited about. The players will start their journey as brand new initiates to a holy order, but during their nighttime vigil, something mysterious happens that will change everything…
When will we play this? What ruleset? Which players? I have no idea. But hey, if you happen to live in Dubai and are looking for a TTRPG group, message me. Who knows?
Here on substack, by far my most popular post ever is the one where I listed a bunch of my favourite free resources. I still get new followers and comments on that, despite it being months old, which is very cool, and has inspired me to write another one — this time about my favourite paid resources. Which ones are worth the investment, and which ones are not? Stay tuned!
Until then, be kind, be awesome, and keep reading! 😘

Ooooo can’t wait to hear about your favorite paid!!
Congratulations on finishing a first draft - always a Herculean effort! Love the title. Also glad to hear you've been enjoying Daggerheart. DMing is a great passion of mine but I don't get to do it often these days; I feel that many alternative systems offer a lot more than 5e right now!
